At least 26 passengers, including ten women, were killed when a bus carrying a marriage party plunged into a pond in Kamrup district of Assam, the police said on Tuesday. The bus, carrying nearly 40 passengers from Guwahati to Dihu in Rangia sub-division of the district, fell into the 40 feet deep pond on Monday night when a wooden bridge it was crossing gave in.
